STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. - Steamboat Springs police say a 3-year-old boy who died last week may have been left alone for nearly 20 hours in a cabin that contained human waste and partially eaten food.
The Steamboat Springs Pilot & Today reported Wednesday Meghan McKeon was arrested on suspicion of child abuse and reckless endangerment after the death of her son, Austin Davis.
However, prosecutors dismissed those counts Wednesday saying they planned to file more serious charges.
McKeon's attorney, Sheryl Uhlmann, didn't immediately return an after-hours phone message Wednesday. No phone number could be found for McKeon.
In an arrest warrant affidavit, police say they believe the child was left alone while McKeon went to work and then spent the night at her boyfriend's house.
The cause of death hasn't been determined.
