COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A Colorado Springs man was nearly shot in the head in a home invasion robbery Friday, police say.

A man and a woman called police after they were awakened by a loud noise in their home on the 2100 block of W. Cucharras St.

The noise was later believed to be the sound of their front door being kicked in, police say.

In response to the noise, the man went to investigate, police say. The victim reported seeing three intruders in his home.

One of the suspects fired one round at the victim, nearly striking the man in the head, police say. The homeowner began to retreat, and the suspect fired a second round.

Police say the suspects then fled the scene.

Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects.

Police say neither of the victims was harmed.
