AURORA, Colo. – Police are asking for the public’s help to locate a man who is wanted in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old woman at an Aurora motel.

Arturo Garcia, 20, is wanted on a charge of first-degree murder. The victim's family said the suspect was previously in a relationship with her but it turned violent. They thought he was still in jail.

Alexandrea "Ally" Raber was found dead at the Knights Inn Motel, 14200 E. 6th Ave., at about 10 a.m. Sunday. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office classified her death as a homicide.

Raber recently graduated from Eaglecrest High School and decided to enlist in the Navy.

“She told me she wanted a chance to serve her country, to serve her family, to serve her friends," said Jeff Anderson, her stepbrother.

After her death, family members found out she was seeing Garcia again despite having a protection order against him. A friend dropped Raber and Garcia off at the motel the night before her body was found.

"They basically told me that they had been seeing each other together trying to work things out, because she was always a caring person, always wanted to give somebody another chance," said Anderson.

Arrest records show Garcia was taken into custody earlier this year on a number of charges, including assault, kidnapping and stalking.

“About six months later he had kidnapped her, basically that’s what the charge was, and he had attempted to choke her," said Andy Starrett, her stepdad.

Anyone with information on this case should contact Aurora police at 303-627-3278. Anonymous tips can also be made to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers by calling 720-913-7867. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
