DENVER - A suspect involved in a police chase that resulted in a patrol car crash was arrested near 5th Ave. and Pearl St., according to Denver dispatchers.

Police confirmed the suspect is wanted in Arapahoe County for violent crimes.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as Craig Paul Dickson, 27.  He is wanted in Arapahoe County on kidnapping, sex offense, robbery, burglary, assault/menacing, assault with a deadly weapon, and arson charges.  An arrest warrant for Dickson was issued on Dec. 31, 2012.

The suspect led officers on a high-speed car chase Friday afternoon that began near Congress Park. The chase resulted in a crash involving a police vehicle and a sedan carrying a mother and child.

The mother and child were trapped as a result of the crash on South Colorado Boulevard.  The car they were in was crushed against a utility pole, next to the Denver police car. The roof of the car was cut off to free the two.

They both had non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police lost the suspect for several hours when he went to a parking lot at Colorado Blvd. and Kentucky Ave. His white Jeep was found at Cherry Creek Drive South.
