Police: Man killed crossing Havana, driver processed for driving under the influence

DENVER - A man got off a bus Friday morning, tried to walk across a street and was hit and killed by a suspected drunk driver, Denver Police said.

The crash happened on Havana Street near Exposition Avenue. Police said the man got off a bus and instead of walking down to the intersection of Exposition to use the crosswalk, he walked across the street mid-block.

The man was hit. He died at a nearby hospital.

"The driver was proceeded [sic] for DUI," Denver Police tweeted.

A witness said several people crossed the street with the man.

"I looked and I saw everybody else crossing," the witness told 7NEWS. "They were way safely across the street and then seconds later, he got hit."
