COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Officers arrested a man Monday morning who was allegedly shooting at the rock formations at Garden of the Gods.
Colorado Springs police said officers were called to the south side of the park at 3:56 a.m.
The arriving officers said they heard shots being fired and while they were investigating, they suddenly heard 100 to 150 rounds.
"The officers reported nearly being struck by several of the rounds that appeared to be ricocheting off of the park’s rock formations," according to the Colorado Springs Police website.
Officers arrested Brandon Bougades on suspicion of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. Investigators said Bougades used a semi-automatic handgun and a pump-action shotgun to shoot two rock formations.
7NEWS called Garden of the Gods. They were not aware of the shooting, but said the area police described is not in the heart of the park.
