Police discover possible witness to a homicide is actually a suspect, 2nd suspect still on the run

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. - A woman originally described as a witness to a fatal shooting is now under arrest, accused of being involved in the murder.

Guled Abdullahi Ige, 24, of Glendale, was shot following an altercation at 8:17 p.m. Sunday outside the Walgreens at 4401 Wadsworth Boulevard, said Commander Mark Cooney. He was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital, but was pronounced dead there.

Originally, Cooney said investigators wanted to speak to the woman seen in surveillance photos because she accompanied the victim before the shooting.

Wenona Sims Begay, 26, went to the police department after seeing her photo on the news, Cooney said.

While being interviewed, however, police determined that Begay was involved in the shooting. Cooney said she is now being held at the Jefferson County Jail on second-degree murder charges.

One additional suspect in the shooting is still at large.

Cooney said his department has also found a stolen vehicle believed to be linked to the crime.
