DENVER — Police arrested a Denver man for allegedly attempting to meet a teen who he thought was 15 years old.

John Edward Cushing, 49, is facing charges of internet luring of a child following an arrest warrant issued Sep. 14.

According to an affidavit, Cushing started an internet conversation with someone who he thought was a 15-year-old girl. The teen was actually an undercover Denver Police officer.

Cushing allegedly offered the officer posing as a teen $40 to watch him perform sexual acts in his car. The suspect also exchanged photographs with the officer.

Days later, Cushing offered the undercover officer $20 to meet her at a Taco Bell to say “hi,” according to an arrest affidavit.

Cushing allegedly said in a text conversation, “It’s not illegal to say hi at the Taco Bell. Nobody can get in trouble for that.”

Cushing is out on bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 20.
