Police chase ends outside West Middle School in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A police chase in Colorado Springs overnight ended near a middle school.

A police officer said he spotted a car at 12:37 a.m. Tuesday with expired license plates.

The officer said he tried to stop the vehicle near Pikes Peak Avenue and Iowa Avenue, but the driver sped off.

About four miles later, the driver stopped outside West Middle School and started running, police said.

The officer said he caught up with the driver and deployed his Taser to stop the driver from escaping into a nearby house.

Thomas Solis was arrested on drug and weapons charges along with numerous traffic related charges, police said.
