AURORA, Colo. – Friday was homecoming at Aurora Central High School, and some coaches and even parents joined a growing number of football players who took a knee during the playing of the national anthem.
The movement started with a couple of players on the football team in the season’s first game and has grown since, drawing support from school administrators.
The Aurora Central players said they had a team meeting prior to the scene to discuss the actions of several other athletes and whether or not they should emulate them.
And the movement has continued to grow, drawing support from players and their parents, as well as some coaches, who agree they can’t sit by and do nothing.
