OURAY COUNTY, Colo. - Five victims killed in a plane that crashed into Ridgway Reservoir were recovered and identified Thursday when recovery teams brought the fuselage to the surface.
Although the tail of the single-engine Socata TBM was recovered Saturday shortly after the crash, it took five days to recover the fuselage. It was about 90 feet from shore in 60 to 90 feet of water.
The victims aboard the plan were identified as Katrina Barksdale and her sons Kobe and Alexander. A cousin, Seth McDuffie was also a passenger. The pilot, Barksdale's boyfriend, was identified as Jimmy Hill.
All five were from Gadsden, Alabama.
Now that the recovery effort is complete, investigators will focus on the cause of the crash. Witnesses have said the plane was in a spin prior to hitting the water and the NTSB says Hill radioed about an uncontrolled spin before he lost communication.
