Plane crashes on Western Slope, 3 dead

MESA COUNTY, Colo. - A single-engine plane that went missing Thursday on the Western Slope was found crashed.

The Civil Air Patrol said it found the wreckage about 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the Porter Creek area, a remote area located east of Collbran.

Mesa County Search and Rescue Snow Skippers responded to the scene. That group said all three people on the plane died.

The missing plane left the Mesa Mack Airport to look for livestock on the Grand Mesa, but the plane's route and exact destination were unknown.

The victims all live in Mesa County.

There is no word yet what caused the plane to go down.
