I-70 westbound reopens over Vail Pass

Interstate reopened at 6:45 p.m.

COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. - The westbound lanes of Interstate 70 on from Copper Mountain to Vail Pass reopened following a nearly 4-hour closure due to a multi-vehicle crash that involved a truck hauling beer.

The westbound lanes reopened at 6:45 p.m.

The Colorado State Patrol said a hazmat team was called earlier because of a fuel spill.

Cases of beer were spill over the westbound lanes of the highway after the truck carrying them rolled on the highway.

CDOT cameras showed a large backup on I-70 stretching for miles.
