Person airlifted to hospital after explosion in Winter Park

WINTER PARK, Colo. — One person was airlifted to a Denver hospital after an explosion in Winter Park Thursday afternoon.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a gas leak at 98 Fir Drive in the older part of town. When deputies arrived, they found the victim suffering from serious injuries.

No other injuries were reported. Nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution. The cause of the explosion is under investigation. Xcel Energy is on scene.
