Pedestrian struck, killed on Federal Blvd. at US 36

WESTMINSTER, Colo. – A portion of Federal Boulevard is closed for the morning commute after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a car.

Police said it appeared the pedestrian stepped off the median and was struck by the vehicle on Federal near the intersection with U.S. 36 around 4:30 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The southbound lanes of Federal were closed at Cottonwood Drive and the ramp from westbound U.S. 36 to southbound Federal also was closed. The road was back open shortly before 7:30 a.m.

The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
