AURORA, Colo. - A pedestrian crossing a dark section of East Sixth Avenue in Aurora was struck by a Jeep and critically injured early Saturday morning.
Aurora police said the man was crossing near Sixth and Moline at 4:18 a.m. when the Jeep driven by a woman struck him. Two witnesses told police the pedestrian walked into the path of the jeep.
Police said the area was dark and there are no crosswalks or traffic signals nearby.
The driver of the jeep is not suspected of excessive speed or intoxication, however, the pedestrian may have been intoxicated. All indications at this time are that the pedestrian is at fault in this accident.
"There is a high potential that he will not survive," police said in a news release.
The adult female driver of the jeep was uninjured.
