COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police have arrested a therapist accused of having sex with a patient.
In April, the alleged victim told Colorado Springs Police she had been receiving outpatient therapy at Peak View Behavioral Health since February.
She said after group counseling session, her male therapist flirted with her, made sexual comments about her body and that she had sexual intercourse with the therapist twice. The woman told police that the second encounter was witnessed by another woman in the therapy group.
Colorado Springs Police said they interviewed the therapist, Darrell Wainright, Tuesday. Police said he confessed to the sexual encounters and officers arrested him on suspicion of sexual assault on a client by a psychotherapist.
Investigators say Wainright had an active Professional Counselor Candidate license issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
