PD: Shopper using credit card numbers stolen during Target security breach

LAKEWOOD - Lakewood Police are looking for a free-spending bandit who is apparently using credit card numbers stolen during the Target security breach last year.

Ironically, the man was caught on camera using those numbers for a shopping spree at Target.

Police say the man has bought about $9,000 in merchandise at Target, Best Buy, 7-Eleven, Walgreens and other stores in the Denver metro area. He has also tried to buy another $15,000 in merchandise, but those purchases were unsuccessful.

Lakewood Police said 16 Capital One credit card holders reported the credit card fraud on their accounts.

"Capital One advised detectives the credit card numbers being used were some of the many compromised during the breach occurring at Target stores during 2013," Lakewood Police said in a news release. "The suspect appears to have encoded the cards in the name of Steve Locke or Steve S Locke."

If you recognize the suspect, call Lakewood Police Department or Detective Muller at either 303-987-7111 or 303-987-7281.
