LEADVILLE, Colo. – A person walking near Lake Creek in Leadville Friday evening discovered the body of a 15-year-old girl who fell into the creek the night before.
Crews were searching the waterway for the teen after the girl had fallen into the fast-moving creek around 9 p.m. Her father and boyfriend could not reach her and called for help.
Lake County search and rescue crews spent that night and most of the day Friday searching for the still unidentified 15-year-old girl. Crews recovered her body after it was discovered around 5 p.m.
Lake County officials are warning people to be careful around Lake Creek as it is running high and fast this time of year.
