Once horribly abused, Henry the Chihuahua is now happy, thriving in new home

DENVER - Once horribly abuse, Henry the Chihuahua mix is living the good life now.

The 2-year-old dog was found last month wandering the streets of Clovis, N.M. Someone had tortured the tiny dog, inflicting chemical burns all over his body and using him for BB gun target practice, said Floss Blackburn, founder of Denkai Animal Sanctuary in Eaton, Colo.

While the 13-pound pooch was being treated at Denkai, Darrel Hoffman says he watched Henry's story on 7NEWS and decided he wanted to adopt him, so he can give Henry the best life a dog can have.

7NEWS caught up with Henry as he scampered around the yard of Hoffman's Denver home.

His new owner says Henry is adjusting just fine to life in a home with two very large Mastiffs.

"They have just gotten along so well," Hoffman said of his dogs. "The fact that he's housebroken and listens to commands -- I just can't imagine anyone would have done that to Henry."
