Officials are looking for the suspect in a shotgun theft that took place following an attempted theft at a different location. Both the incidents happened in Thornton.

Witnesses said they saw the suspect enter Sportsman Warehouse, at 11.W. 84th Avenue, around 11:35 a.m. and proceed behind the counter, where he grabbed a shotgun. That’s when the suspect began running towards the store exit.

Chase3d by employees, the suspect dropped the shotgun and fled on foot, west bound from the store.

At about 11:53 a.m., Thornton police officials were dispatched to Gander Mountain, 9923 N. Grant Street, in reference to the same suspect who had just stolen a camouflaged Bushmaster ACR .223 caliber rifle from the gun department.

The suspect – described as a Hispanic male with neck tattoos -- may be associated with a possible white four-door sedan, with dark tinted windows.

He was last seen wearing a black or gray North Face jacket with a dark colored hoodie underneath it, blue jeans, tennis shoes with a red sole, black hat with a white logo and a gray and white camouflaged bill.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Metro Area Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867, or the Thornton Police Tip Line at 720-977-5069.
