COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs police officers followed footprints in the snow to find and capture thieves who were breaking into cars to steal valuables Monday.
Officers responded to a call from the 9000 block of Aragon Drive reporting thieves who were attempting to steal items from the inside of cars.
According to Colorado Springs police, the caller reported confronting two men, later identified as Clayton Romero and Nathan Roulier, after seeing one of the men inside of his own car. When the caller confronted them, the two men left the area on foot.
The recent snowfall enabled responding officers to follow the thieves’ footprints to a residence on the 4800 block of Herndon Circle.
After officers spoke to the Romero and Roulier, both confessed to breaking into cars in order to steal valuables. The men were charged with first degree criminal trespass and taken to jail.
