Number of people unaccounted for in Colorado flooding drops 76 percent 306

The number of people unaccounted for in the Colorado flooding has been to 306.

The state's tally of unaccounted people began at 1,253 Tuesday, but was reduced 76 percent by afternoon as authorities continue to confirm people are safe.

In Larimer County those unaccounted for has dropped from 260 to 197, officials said.

The missing in Larimer County included 80- and 60-year-old women in the Cedar Cove area of Big Thompson Canyon east of Estes Park. The sheriff's department says both are presumed dead.

Boulder County reports that 109 people remain unaccounted as the county has confirmed that 736 once-unaccounted-for residents are safe..

Emergency management officials had predicted the count would drop as communications were restored and people were able to check in with loved ones.
