Northglenn Police: Officers shot man who opened fire on them

NORTHGLENN, Colo. - Northglenn police said officers shot a man who opened fire on them Friday morning.

The police department said they were called to East 108th Avenue near Larson Drive and Larson Park at 9:27 p.m. Thursday on a report of a suicidal man with a gun.

Officers said when they arrived, they heard a single gunshot near the back of the house.

Officers said they set up a perimeter and managed to reach an adult man by phone.

Despite the phone conversation, at 12:02 a.m., Northglenn police said a man walked out the front door and began shooting at officers.

Two officers shot back, hitting the man, police said.

The man was taken to the hospital, his condition is not being released.

The case is being investigated by the Adams County Critical Incident Team.
