GREELEY, Colo. -
A Weld County man is sentenced to three years in a community corrections program for plotting to drug his friend so that he could sexually assault his friend’s daughters.
According to police records, Alan Glen Smith admitted the plot to his roommate.
The roommate called police and told them that Smith said he wanted to invite a male friend and his two young daughters to his Greeley apartment, said Heath Montgomery of the Weld County District Attorney's Office.
The roommate said that Smith said he "wanted to give his friend a sleeping pill so he could have sex with the friend's daughters," Montgomery said.
Deputies then arranged an opportunity for Smith to buy Ambien, a prescription sleeping aid, from a Greeley Walgreens. Deputies arrested Smith when he showed up at the pharmacy to buy the Ambien.
Smith pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit sex assault on a child.
Smith will be required to register as a sex offender.
