No injuries from Sinclair refinery explosion, fire in Wyoming

SINCLAIR, Wyo. - There were no injuries from an explosion at the Sinclair Refinery near Rawlins, Wyo.

The explosion happened just after 10 p.m. Friday, according to Sinclair Police Chief Jeff Sanders.  He said it resulted in a large fire.

The town of Sinclair is next to the plant, but no town buildings were damaged by either the explosion or the fire, he said.  No evacuations were ordered in the town.

Firefighters cleared the scene at about 3 a.m.

The explosion was in the hydrogen unit at the refinery, Sanders told 7NEWS.

The Sinclair Refinery is one of the largest high conversion refineries in the Rocky Mountain region, according to the Sinclair website.
