HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — On Friday morning the traffic configuration on eastbound C-470 was shifted to new concrete.

That made way for construction crews to start working on express lanes.

The new configuration opened to traffic later than expected on Friday and caused some traffic issues during the morning commute.

Another overnight closure is set for this weekend. C-470 will be closed from Quebec to I-25 on Sunday night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday.

According to CDOT the $276 million C-470 Express Lanes project will increase mobility and user choice along 12.5 miles of C-470 between I-25 and Wadsworth Boulevard. Crews will build two additional westbound Express Lanes from I-25 to Colorado Boulevard and one additional Express Lane from Colorado Boulevard to Wadsworth. They also will build one additional eastbound Express Lane along the length of the project between I-25 and Wadsworth Boulevard.
