New Aurora interchange opens at I-225, Colfax; city hosts ribbon cutting ceremony

AURORA, Colo. - The grand opening of a new interchange at I-225 and Colfax in Aurora will be held Monday.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will accompany the opening of the new I-225/Colfax/17th Place Interchange in Aurora.
The event will be held on Fitzsimons Parkway and 17th Place in Aurora near the new bridge over 225 at 10 a.m.

It will include remarks by Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan, Congressman Mike Coffman, Congressman Ed Perlmutter, Don Hunt with CDOT and Shaun Cutting with the Federal Highway Administration.

Construction of the interchange was intended to reduce congestion on Colfax and the surrounding areas.

The interchange will be open to traffic movements later in the week or the following week.
