Nebraska State Patrol chases Subaru on highway, in pasture; Ryan Riddle of Greeley arrested

HAY SPRINGS, Ne. - Two Coloradans who ran off in a dark pasture after a police chase last week were taken into custody Sunday, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

Investigators say Ryan Riddle, 30, and Rebecca J. Melzo, 22, of Greeley, were chased by troopers last Thursday when they refused to stop after they were spotted speeding.

Troopers said they chased a 1998 Subaru, driven by Riddle, on Highway 385 and on 20 miles of rugged pastureland before the car became disabled.

Investigators said Riddle and Melzo ran off and the search was eventually called off because of darkness.

"The pair remained on the loose until they were taken into custody Sunday in Hay Springs," the Nebraska State Patrol said in a news release.

Riddle was arrested on numerous charges, officials said. Melzo was not detained.
