BOULDER, Colo. - Officials are warning drivers and residents in Boulder and Poudre Canyon near Fort Collins to watch for mudslides.
"...heavy rains are causing small mudslides through the Poudre Canyon," the advisory from the Colorado Department of Transportation said.
CDOT said crews will be cleaning debris, including small rocks, fallen trees, and other muck, from the areas surrounding Highway 14 near Stove Prairie Road near mile marker 104 throughout the day.
In Boulder, rangers have closed the Ann U. White Trail "due to forecasts for additional rain and flood warnings for the Fourmile burn area," a Tweet said.
The Four Mile Canyon Fire in Boulder and the High Park Fire in Poudre Canyon last summer stripped many hillsides of their vegetation. With little vegetation to absorb the water, heavy rain showers can cause flooding, washouts and mudslides.
