More than 30,000 vehicles pass through the Eisenhower Tunnel on a winter weekend day, with an average of 2.6 passengers in each vehicle.
If each of those cars filled their empty seats and instead had four occupants, 10,000 fewer cars would travel through the Tunnel each day, according to the Colorado Dept. of Transportation. To encourage mountain travelers to carpool, CDOT will host the second annual Mountain Rideshare Day on Saturday, Feb. 6.
Drivers should stop by the Dinosaur Lots in the morning on Mountain Rideshare Day to get tires checked, enjoy free chai and other goodies! Drivers can pick up their carpooler wristband at the CDOT station to receive discounts from participating resorts. They can also pick up wristbands at participating resorts.
Here's a list of carpool discounts available on Saturday:
- A-Basin will offer a $74 discounted day adult lift ticket for people that carpool with 4 or more people in their car. They will also hold 30 parking spots in the Early Riser lot for the first 30 carpoolers that get here. Once the Early Riser spots are taken, additional carpoolers will be parked by parking staff. The discounted lift ticket will be available all day!

Breckenridge will offer a $5 parking discount for carpools with four or more people. The Town of Breckenridge is offering a number of additional parking lots for carpoolers at the following locations:
- F Lot (250 S. Park Ave. – an officer will be in the lot from 7a.m. to 1 p.m. and give a parking voucher to qualified vehicles.
- Wellington Lot (200 N. Main St. – an officer will be in the lot from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and give a parking voucher to qualified vehicles.
- Ice Rink Lot (189 Boreas Pass Rd. – two officers will be in the public parking side of the lot, south of the building, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. giving parking vouchers to qualified vehicles.
- (Please note that the F Lot and Wellington Lots fill quickly on the weekends, so the Ice Rink Lot is a better choice for later arrivals.)
- Copper Mountain is offering carpoolers exclusive deals within Dos Equis Après Ski! From 3:30 - 6 p.m. at Storm King Lounge in Copper’s Center Village, check out this event featuring $3 Dos Equis beers, the Most Interesting Sushi Roll, live entertainment and great giveaways. Show your Mountain Rideshare wristband at the door and receive either one free Dos Equis beer or a special Dos Equis or Copper item. - Keystone Resort will offer premier parking in the Montezuma lot to vehicles with four or more people. Carpool parking spaces will be available to qualified cars on a first-come, first-serve basis until full.
- Winter Park will offer adult beverage discounts ($3 Coors and Coors Lights) in addition to free granola bars to carpoolers. The resort will also offer an additional food and beverage discount to carpoolers wearing the Mountain Rideshare Day wristbands.
