Mountain lion kills goat near New Castle

NEW CASTLE, Colo. - A couple who live in the small western Colorado town of New Castle say one of their goats was killed by a mountain lion.

Simone Robertson tells the Glenwood Springs Post Independent (http://bit.ly/15NkdNJ ) that when she and her husband returned home from dinner at a friend's house Sept. 14, they found one of their goats dead in its pen. The couple set up a video camera near the pen, and the mountain lion returned the next morning.

Robertson says the mountain lion was dragging the goat's body around the pen, so she called wildlife officials.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife has since trapped the mountain lion and is warning residents that the felines can become dangerous if they become habituated to people.
