DENVER - A 25-year-old Denver mother is under investigation after her 11-month-old daughter nearly died in the bathtub.
Police said they were called just before noon Monday to an apartment in Montebello by a woman who said he baby was not breathing. The unconscious baby was rushed to Children's Hospital for treatment.
According to a probable cause statement by Denver Police, Alexis Duron-DeLune told medical staff at the hospital that she had left her baby in the tub for five minutes and came back to find her under water.
The baby's biological father told police that he and Alexis had separated about a year earlier. He said they argued previously about Alexis leaving the baby in the tub "while (Alexis) played on her phone."
Doctors were able to stabilize the baby, who was listed in critical but stable condition Monday night. The infant's name was redacted from the probable cause statement.
Alexis Duron-DeLune was held for investigation of child abuse with serious bodily injury and failure to appear in court on a resisting an officer charge in Commerce City.
