More sex assault victims possible in former Colorado Springs coach case

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Additional charges are pending against a Colorado Springs coach and educational assistant who formerly worked for Coronado High School.

The Colorado Springs Police Department said that Benjamin Wilkerson was arrested last February on a charge of sexual assault by one in a position of trust. The offenses spanned multiple years, according to detectives with the Crimes against Children Unit.

During the course of an additional investigation, two additional victims came forward, police said Wednesday.

"Detectives believe it's possible there are additional victims who have not reported crimes," said a statement posted on the Colorado Springs Police Department Facebook page.

The original investigation began when a school resource officer contacted the Crimes Against Children Unit Tuesday to report the alleged relationship.
