GREELEY, Colo. - A parent volunteer at a Greeley charter school accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy in the closet of her bedroom has pleaded guilty.
Lynne Collette Freeman, 39, was arrested in June after the parents of a 14-year-old boy reported allegations of sexual abuse to police, Weld County prosecutors said.
Investigators were told that the boy was at Freeman’s home with a friend watching a movie. When Freeman told the victim’s friend to take a dog outside, she took the victim into a closet in her bedroom, locked the door behind them and began kissing him, Greeley police spokeswoman Sgt. Susan West said. The boy said that Freeman then removed his pants and performed a sexual act on him.
Freeman then told him to not tell anyone what happened and to go back downstairs, West said.
According to the affidavit, Freeman told the boy that if he mentioned it to anyone, it would mess up his baseball career.
The boy kept the April incident to himself until June 7, when he told his father. The father went to police.
Freeman was arrested on additional charges when a second victim, a 16-year-old boy, came forward with similar allegations of sexual assault, prosecutors said.
Freeman's attorney initially said his client denied the allegations. However, the affidavit indicated that police had both victims phone Freeman to talk about what happened. They recorded the conversations.
Under a plea bargain, Freeman pleaded guilty to a felony charge of attempted sexual assault on a child. She'll be sentenced in January.
Freeman was a parent volunteer at University Schools, a charter school in Greeley School District 6.
