LONGMONT, Colo. - The body of a Longmont woman missing since Saturday was identified Tuesday after being found in a field.
The body of 31-year-old Jessica Lynn Shackelford was found in an alfalfa field by a land owner in the 13200 block of North 87th Street.
There was no obvious cause of death, according to investigators. An autopsy found no obvious cause of death and additional tests are being conducted.
Boulder County Sheriff's spokeswoman Heidi Prentup told the Longmont Times Call that the death appears to be due to exposure and that alcohol might be a factor. Area temperatures dipped below freezing Saturday night and into the teens on Sunday night.
Shackelford left her home at about 8 p.m. on Saturday in the 12900 block of Hillcrest Drive after she and her husband had an argument, according to police.
The location where her body was found is about 2 miles from her home.
The call from the resident about the body came at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Authorities had been working to notify family members before news of the discovery was released.
