DENVER - A missing woman is marking her 21st birthday on Tuesday, yet she is still nowhere to be found.
Kara Nichols was last seen alive on Oct. 9, 2012.
Investigators say she was heading to Denver for a modeling job from her home in Colorado Springs.
"People don't just disappear of planet Earth," said her mother Julia in an interview with 7NEWS. "If she met with foul play, somebody knows something. But isn't talking to protect themselves perhaps. If she was taken like those girls in Cleveland that I think about so often. That person obviously isn't going to say anything."
Nichols had an online modeling profile. Investigators expressed concern that perhaps some saw her and took advantage of her.
While El Paso County sheriff's deputies have received tips since her disappearance, the case isn't solved.
"Any tip with the lack of information we have, any tip is important," said Ms. Nichols. "It's just important because we don't know what happened to our daughter. We have no idea."
Anyone with information about Nichols' disappearance was urged to call the El Paso County Sheriff's Office at 719-390-5555.
A Facebook page has also been put up to aid in her search.
