Minor explosion in chemistry building injures 2 CSU students

Students receive minor cuts

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - A CSU student received minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when a glass container exploded in his hand.

CSU Police Senior Public information Officer Dell Rae Ciaravola said the student was washing out the glass container in the CSU Chemistry building and a chemical that was in the container reacted with the water, causing the glass to explode. It happened at about 3:30 p.m.

The student was transported to the hospital with cuts on his face.  Another student who was nearby had a minor cut on his hand.

There was no damage to the building and the building was not evacuated.
