Men ticketed over campaign sign thefts in Superior

SUPERIOR, Colo. -  

Two local residents have been ticketed on suspicion of stealing political campaign signs in Superior, the Daily Camera reported Friday.

Police said Justin Chipman and Justin Hagenwere issued misdemeanor theft citations after witnesses reported them taking signs from the side of the road.

Chipman was ticked on Oct. 18, and Hagen was ticketed Wednesday, the newspaper reported.

Chipman told police the signs were on public property and he considered the signs "littering."  Hagen told police he was trying to abate an eyesore.

More than 100 political signs have disappeared around Superior recently.
