FORT CARSON, Colo. - Fort Carson is holding a memorial service for Staff Sgt. David C. Dunlap, who was killed along with his wife during a burglary at their home off post.
The service will be held Wednesday at Provider Chapel at Fort Carson, just outside Colorado Springs.
Colorado Springs Police say Dunlap and his wife, Whitney M. Butler, were shot and killed Jan. 14 when they surprised a burglar in their home.
A 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a 19-year-old on suspicion of being an accessory to murder.
Staff Sgt. Dunlap had served in the army for nearly 10 years. He had just arrived at Fort Carson two months ago, to be part of a new combat aviation brigade.
Dunlap had earned several medals, ribbons and badges including the Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal.
