DENVER – A new four-legged volunteer is providing comfort and snuggles to stressed out passengers at Denver International Airport.
Xeli (that’s pronounced “ZELL-ee”) is a 12-pound domestic shorthair cat and she’s the newest member of DIA’s ‘Canine Airport Therapy Squad’ (CATS).
The CATS program puts certified therapy dogs – and now Xeli – in the airport terminals so that travelers can spend some relaxing quality time with an animal while they wait for their flights. Xeli and the other CATS crew members wear special vests that read “Pet Me” and usually work two-hour shifts.
The airport is holding a meet-and-greet so that people can get their photo taken with Xeli on Friday, Sept. 29. The event runs from 2 to 3 p.m. on level five of the Jeppesen Terminal, in the center of the Great Hall.
