DENVER - The FBI is investigating the robbery of a Denver bank by a man with a grey facemask and a handgun.
The suspect entered the Wells Fargo Bank at 4701 N. Peoria St. around 12:16 p.m. Monday. FBI spokesman Dave Joly says the suspect was wearing the mask, black pants and a black sweatshirt with the hood up.
Surveillance photographs released by the FBI show he pointed the gun left and right over the teller counter during the robbery.
Bank robbery is normally punishable by a 20-year prison sentence, but Joly said the punishment increases if a weapon is used.
The suspect in this case is described as a black male between 25 and 35 years of age. He is between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10 in height and is estimated to weigh about 150 pounds.
Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call the FBI's Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force at 303-629-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Crime Stoppers tips can be anonymous and can be rewarded with up to $2,000.
