GYPSUM, Colo. - An armed robbery suspect ran into a Gypsum Kum & Go and stole a display case of electronic cigarettes before running from the store, according to the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office responded to a report of an armed robbery at the gas station and convenience store located at 103 Oak Ridge Dr. around 1:35 a.m. Monday.
The store clerk told officials that he was walking around to the back of the counter when he saw someone running toward the front door from the outside. The suspect ran into the store waving a gun and snatched a display case full of Blu Electronic Cigarettes off of the counter, the sheriff’s office said.
The suspect reportedly shouted, “If you call the cops, you’re dead,” at the clerk, then ran from the store.
The store clerk estimated the value of the stolen electronic cigarettes at $1350, the sheriff’s office said.
Security images from the incident show the suspect striding into the store with a handgun, wearing all black clothes and a ski mask. Other photos show the suspect at the counter beside the display case and carrying the display case out of the store. The final image shows the suspect running away from the store in the parking lot.
According to the sheriff’s office, the store clerk described the suspect as a 5-foot-8 tall man with a light complexion and a skinny build.
Deputies searched the area and found the empty display case in a parking lot near the store, but they were unable to find the suspect.
