Marshals arrest man who climbed outside Denver high rise, witness says

DENVER - Swinging down from the 20th floor to the 19th was not enough for a suspect to escape the U.S. Marshals that were chasing him Wednesday.

Authorities shut down Bassett Street near the Glass House building at 1700 Bassett Street in downtown Denver for the case.

The suspect swung down from the 20th floor to the floor below and broke into an apartment there, the resident told 7NEWS reporter Marc Stewart. That resident originally told Stewart the suspect used a rope made of bed sheets, but later retracted that statement because law enforcement told him no rope was used.

The suspect went through the 19th floor apartment in an attempt to exit the building through a trash chute, the man said.

Outside the building, an assortment of police and Marshals were gathered in their various uniforms.
