LINCOLN, Neb. -- A 69-year-old western Colorado man has been sent to a Nebraska prison for having 515 pounds of marijuana in his pickup.

The street value of the drugs? More than $2.5 million.

Steven McElmury was sentenced this week to 18 to 36 months. He'd pleaded guilty to possession for sale.

Prosecutors said McElmury, who lives in Cedaredge, Colorado, was pulled over on eastbound Interstate 80 near Lincoln on Jan. 21.

A drug-sniffing dog taken to the scene alerted officers to the scent of drugs, and the high-grade marijuana was found in heat-sealed bags stuffed into four moving boxes, four large duffel bags, and a large blue tote.
