GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) — Two men have been arrested in connection to a suspected illegal marijuana grow operation on two islands in the Colorado River in western Colorado.

The Daily Sentinel reports that a dozen Colorado and federal law enforcement agents found 9,200 plants at the site a short distance from Interstate 70 near De Beque on Thursday. Officials say they had been watching the massive marijuana grow operation guarded by three armed men since May.

The Drug Enforcement Administration has not released the names of the two suspects. Steven Knight with the DEA’s Grand Junction office says the men told his team they were cousins from Mexico sent to Colorado to set up the grow.
