WOODLAND PARK, Colo. - Federal and county authorities destroyed an illegal pot grow operation Thursday discovered in the Pike National Forest.
More than 18,000 plants were being cultivated on the the five-acre site located about six miles from Woodland Park in El Paso County.
An elaborate infrastructure to support the growth of the plants, including irrigation pipes, tarps and fertilizer, was also discovered and ripped from the ground by a law enforcement team.

This is the second grow operation discovered in the Pike National Forest in the past year. A somewhat smaller grow site was destroyed August of last year.
