DENVER - The marijuana legalization activists counted up arrest numbers for a report released Thursday.

The marijuana activists say that despite claims to the contrary, pot possession in small amounts still lands people in the criminal justice system.

Marijuana possession in Colorado is a Class 2 Petty Offense. Legalization activists say that people charged with pot possession still have to appear in criminal court, and that legalization would save money.

Exact numbers were to be released Thursday morning.

Opponents of marijuana legalization planned a rival news conference Thursday morning, an event with mothers who oppose the measure.
