Manhunt ends in NE Denver for 'dangerous' juvenile escapee

No sign of escapee

DENVER - A manhunt for a juvenile escapee facing felony charges ended in northeast Denver Thursday evening.

Earlier, the search resulted in  the lockdown of Manual High School and police warning residents to stay in their homes.

Police had said earlier that K-9 officers were searching the area of 28th and Downing and issued a warning for local residents not to leave their homes.

The juvenile escapee was not found.

Police said the escapee should be considered dangerous.  He is described as a black male, wearing hospital scrubs, 5-feet 11-inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with a tattoo of Rockies on his right neck.  He was wearing only one orange flip flop when last seen.

The juvenile escaped while officers were transporting him near Gilliam Detention Center.
