TOLEDO, Ohio - A man who stabbed and robbed a woman at an Ohio gas station before hiding out in Colorado for three decades has been sentenced to prison for the crimes.
Odis Hughes, 61, was sentenced to three to 15 years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty last month to robbery and felonious assault in Toledo.
The Toledo Blade reports that Hughes moved to Denver after the 1984 crime. He assumed another name and lived a low-key life before Denver police came across his warrant last summer while investigating him for impersonating a police officer.
Prosecutors say Hughes stabbed and robbed Tonia Ramey-Guy at a gas station she managed. She knew it was Hughes because they were once friends.
Hughes apologized to the victim Tuesday, blaming his behavior on drugs.
